The Threat Response Unit was formed to target street level narcotics violators and drug houses, gather gang information, and conduct special surveillance operations. Since its inception, the TRU has increased its areas of responsibility to include weapons violations and other types of street crime which can be proactively addressed by doing surveillance, serving search warrants, using informants, and conducting undercover operations, buys, and reverse stings.

Officers who work in this unit focus on selected criminal targets on all Seminole Indian Reservations. All of the personnel assigned to the TRU are among the most experienced in the department, especially in the area of narcotics enforcement. Some current members are assigned to the Florida Safe Trails Task Force.

The Threat Response Unit often works closely with other agencies such as the FBI, local Sheriff’s Office or police departments. On occasion, if it fits with the Seminole Police Department mission, the TRU also helps other local police departments with street level narcotics enforcement within their jurisdictions.

The Threat Response Unit actively solicits tips from other officers and members of the public regarding suspected criminal activity of an ongoing, chronic nature. You may contact the TIP Line at 1-800-275-1455.
